Lead times, and therefore the number of ship repairs, is significantly improved. Syncrolift is continuously developing smarter solutions to improve the productivity and speed of operations. An example is blocking solutions. The blocking wood used for stabilizing a ship is not a value gain from a shipowner’s point of view. It is possible to source solutions that avoid these costs, and Syncrolift has several options available. The efficiency of docking, launching and repair operations of ships is influenced by which solutions are used. The key element in all CeRam-Kote products is ceramic particle loading, which creates above normal adhesion of the coating to the substrate as it cures in the epoxy matrix bound within the anchor profile of the prepared steel plates. This same feature also provides exceptional abrasion and impact resistance, plus added corrosion protection and perm factor. A patented element allows up to 15% elongation/flexibility of the coating without rupture. Pontoon decks have been the primary application over the past 20 years, although preservation of historic ship hulls has made it an excellent candidate for underwater hull preservation as well. Ballast tanks/holding tanks are another application as a result of 35 years of use on offshore oil platforms. For answers to technical questions, contact our own John Vitzthum, former Senior Dock Master, BAE Ship Repair: 619-571-9379 / [email protected] .
