Dry Dock Block Contact Indicator System The purpose of this project is to design and test a block contact detection system. Use of the system is intended to reduce or eliminate the need for divers to verify contact between the blocks and the vessel being drydocked. Alternate Blocking Materials The purpose of this project is to design and test three different materials as candidates for replacing structural elements of dry dock blocks. Two materials to be tested will be High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and neoprene, which are targeted at replacing soft and hard wood caps. The third material to be tested will be fiber reinforced concrete intended to replace the traditional steel reinforced concrete block. The goal of exploring alternate blocking materials is to be able to reduce the cost of wood materials consumed for each drydocking and extend the service life of the concrete blocks, reducing the overall shipyard operating cost and local environment impact. _______________________ Dry Dock Community Bulletin Board Post your free note here in the next quarterly newsletter! Deadline for the next notice input is 15 June 2023. *New* 3D Scanning Technology This patented technology was developed to service the dry dock industry by eliminating uncertainty in drydocking. By scanning a vessel in water prior to drydocking Application of our modern technology can create the follow documents for a safe drydocking: - Drydocking Feasibility Report - Hydrostatic Curves - Docking Plan Modifications with Projection/Hull Opening Interferences - Standard Drydocking Calculations (loading, stability, clearances and more) See https://www.drydocktraining.com/3dscanning.html for more details.
